LVD electronic sign structures surround the entry and interior of the
MGM Grand. These concave three dimensional structures vary in size up
to 100 feet high and range in width from 50 to 80 feet. To withstand
the forces of earthquakes and high winds, 40" steel wide flange
sections were utilized for the columns of the space frame. A pile
foundation provides the main support. The front face of these space
frames are covered with aluminum panels. The LVD lighting is mounted on
these panels.
The electronic signs comprise the background of the MGM Lion
sculpture.
